Objective:To detect the mRNA and protein expression of Id-1 (inhibitor of differentiation or inhibitor of DNA binding) in human cervical cancer and analysis its clinical significance. Methods:The quantity of Id-1 mRNA was detected by real time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (real time RT-PCR), and the protein expression was detected by immunohistochemical method in 6 normal cervical samples,6 cervical intraepithelial neoplasias(CIN) and 24 cervical cancers. The relationship between Id-1 and some clinical parameters was further analyzed. Results:No Id-1 mRNA and protein was shown in normal cervical tissues. The quantity of Id-1 mRNA was obviously difference in normal,CIN and cervical cancers(F=3030.30, q=17.78~95.04, P<0.01). Higher expression of Id-1 protein was shown in cervical cancers than that in CIN (t=7.80, P<0.01 and t=3.15, P<0.01).The expression of Id-1 mRNA and protein was positive correlation in cervical cancers (r=0.89, P<0.01). Moreover, higher expression of Id-1 was correlated with the differentiation and FIGO stage in ovarian cancers (r=0.67,P<0.01 and r=0.58,P<0.05)Conclusion:The high expression of Id-1 is obviously correlated with the pathological grade and clinical stage in cervical cancer. Detection of Id-1 can help the diagnosis and prognosis of cervical cancer.
