Abstract


Term of military equipment , as part of the military English , belong to the category of English for Science and Technology . Named after military equipment and its translation has been receiving increasing attention of linguists and military scientists . Relatively speaking , the military English as well as naming the U.S. military equipment research to a certain extent is already quite rich and fruitful the named translation of military equipment there are many inadequacies . Most of these studies are limited in naming or military English style , grammar characteristics , one-sided, and not to be named and translation combined . With the introduction and development of the corpus , many linguists try the parallel corpus use to translate research . The attempt has been Practice has repeatedly proved to be feasible. Corpus real corpus which enjoy large capacity and quick advantage of the search . Therefore , the parallel corpus has been applied to the field of translation studies . There is no terms of military equipment based Corpus Translation Studies . Therefore , with the help of small, self-built parallel corpus , translation of the name of military equipment were . This paper aims through comparative analysis of the naming of the study of military equipment in China and in the translation of the Anglo-American countries , the links between the naming and translation to find military equipment . Compare different translations of the same equipment , in order to summarize the characteristics and trends of the translation of military equipment . The important conclusions of this paper are the following : (1) Chinese military equipment translated into English , there is the NATO codename equipment usually translate the principle of functional equivalence theory ; without the NATO codename equipment usually also the functional equivalence theory for the translation principle . Therefore, the English translation of the Chinese military equipment is functional equivalence theory as the guiding principle , alienation translation is not to be used . ( 2 ) the United States and the European Union military equipment when translated into Chinese , people or place names named equipment usually only a primitive name, translated into Chinese , generally only a Chinese name ; 12.5% ??had more than one primitive name equipment to function peer theory as the guiding principles of translation , and 37.5% of such equipment to the translator for the translation principle .
