Abstract


Humor plays an important role in a variety of cultures and languages. On the humor of the research can be traced back to ancient Greece, Plato and Aristotle, then mostly based on the physiology, psychology, anthropology and sociology, and rarely involve linguistic. Until the late 1970s, the humor gradually emerging from the linguistic research. In the field of linguistics, first from the point of view of semantics, syntax and rhetoric, to the later development deixis, speech acts, and the principles of cooperation from the pragmatics humor. With the development of the eighties cognitive language learning, humor extended to a new level - the cognitive level. As a special form of verbal communication, verbal humor of embarrassment problem-solving, increased Yi Tim situation. Verbal humor has important practical value. Part VII summarizes the main arguments of the full text, and pointed out the practical and theoretical value from the perspective of relevance theory to understand verbal humor, and also pointed out the limitations of this article, for further study and discussion.
