Abstract

Economic growth and agglomeration two fundamental properties of the indivisibility of economic activity, however, has long been an economist for both studies are carried out along each trajectory. Compared to a variety of economic growth theory, the theory of regional economic concentration is scarce and relatively immature. With the rise of the new geographical economics pioneered by Krugman (1991), and gradually enter the field of economics core research, the temporal and spatial attributes of the economic activities of mutual integration research is more necessary and urgent needs of the economics profession. Dynamic externality theory explain industrial agglomeration and economic growth in the relationship between theory, stressed that the regional internal technology or knowledge spillover is a dynamic process, market priori information accumulated will generate important economic activity and regional development of the industry . However, the source of such externalities, different scholars have different views. Externalities generated by the exchange of knowledge between enterprises within the same industry and accumulation is called MAR externalities (or specialization externalities), interactive learning externalities called Jacobs externalities generated in the same area between different industries (or diversification externalities), the externalities generated by the competition between enterprises of the same area within the same industry is known as the Porter externalities (or competitive externalities). About three externality exists, and significant economic growth in recent years, many scholars empirical research data on the United States, Europe and other Asian countries, however, the result is large Aiba diameter. Gathered from a regional perspective of externalities continues Glaeser (1992) Henderson (1994) study, according to domestic and foreign industrial clustering on the role of regional economic growth, research and analysis methods, and basic reference De Lucio (1998) model architecture and set of variables as indicators to measure the economic growth of industrial output, the Cobb-Douglas production function with capital as the basic model and set of endogenous technical variables to measure three external dynamic impact on economic growth. As used herein, the Yangtze River Delta region provinces and one city manufacturing industry 2000-2009 129 three-digit industry panel data, empirical model to explore the Yangtze River Delta region industry the agglomeration externalities sources, as well as specialized externalities diverse external and competition externality impact on regional economic growth. The research results show that the Yangtze River Delta region MAR externalities and Jacobs externalities exist, that knowledge and technology spillover from learning exchange between industrial enterprises within and between different industries, Porter external impact is uncertain, the intra-industry competition in the short term favorable growth in the long term growth of the negative impact.
