Abstract


The rapid development of modern communications technology and global integration process of the cross- cultural exchange activities have become increasingly frequent . Non - English majors have more and more opportunities and channels to communicate with English - speaking people . However , many college students are learning English before entering the University for several years , due to lack of knowledge of the target language culture in intercultural communicative competence still lacking . This problem has attracted the attention of the English education experts and university English teachers . Language and culture are inseparable . The language is part of the culture , and cultural influence in the formation and development of the cultural environment . Language carries culture , while reflecting the cultural characteristics . Speaking from the point of view of language teaching , teaching a language is to teach a culture , to learn a language is learning a culture . Therefore , language teaching and culture teaching are inseparable . Language teaching aims not just to teach knowledge of the language , should also be taught how to appropriately use language cross - cultural communication . Therefore , motivate students to master the knowledge and skills of the language at the same time , it should also improve the ability of cross - cultural communication . Students' Intercultural Communication ability and cultural teaching relationship closely . Teaching practice , more and more teachers gradually to reach a consensus. Many education experts from abroad, introduced a variety of the cultural teaching theory and teaching methods , and propose a practical cultural teaching mode . Combined with my actual teaching , this paper also trying to do some exploring in this area . Based on the theoretical study of the language, culture , communication , cross-cultural communication , as well as the relationship between them , the theoretical basis of a review of domestic and foreign culture teaching research , pointed out that the current situation and the problems of the current college English teaching . The elaborate culture teaching objectives, principles , and practical method for college English teaching curricular and extra-curricular two areas , carry out cultural teaching . The authors hope that the majority of English teachers can pay more attention to the culture in college English teaching and jointly explore effective ways and means of teaching . Concluded that some of the inadequacies of this article and require more in-depth study in the future .
