Abstract


Movie as an important channel for cultural exchange in modern society 's influence is undeniable . With three decades of China 's reform and opening up , especially in the WTO, import movies continues to increase, imports of British and American cinema has become a mainstream film , and the film is also translated into a new era. However, as an important part of the film translated , the translation of film titles and did not get the attention it deserves , let alone examined how the English film title translation into Chinese . Therefore, this study is necessary. This article from the perspective of the German functional translation theory study English Movie Title Translation . Functional translation theory is based on the translation as purpose -oriented , into the center of the target language translation is for guidance English Movie Title Translation Practice . The author believes that the English title movie title translated into Chinese , the purpose of translation is very strong, very clear , is to attract Chinese audiences , induce them to go to the movies , in order to increase imports of movies at the box office . The author believes that the film 's Chinese title has three functions : information, features, expressive function and infection functionality , the translator must translate these three language features as the translation of English Movie Titles outline , while adhering to the doctrine of the four important criteria , so as to achieve the purpose of film titles in English translation . Finally, the authors summarize some relevant translation strategies .
