Abstract


The choice of word formation and usage on the words of "Hua～" "～hua" belongs to the scope of rhetoric.There is the beauty of image in the word " Hua"(flower) itself.When people compose the word with a morpheme "Hua"(Flower),the beauty of image in the word " Hua "(flower) become one of the rhetorical effects.As the connotation of male beauty is different from the one of female beauty,that also leads to the gender difference when "Hua～" "～hua" Formation is used as the metaphor for the male beauty or the female beauty.There is not only specific attribution in the gender term,but also different the emotional term.This is called the gender meaning at the formation of "Hua～" "～hua".But the gender meaning does not work with the morpheme or ingredients referring to gender.There are characteristics of the rhetoric of gender in the formation of "Hua～" "～hua" as following:Firstly,the analogy between the appearance and "Hua"(beauty) is mostly referring to the female,whereas rarely referring to the male.Secondly,the formation of "Hua～" "～hua" is available in the metaphor of male inherent beauty,but also used for women in this manner.Thirdly, a lot of words on formation "Hua～" "～hua" are used to call female mostly in the complimentary sense,but fewer used to call male and that mostly in derogatory sense. Such as"men and women are different," "light on men,weight on women" in the usage of "Hua～" "～hua" formation,the rhetoric is not only related to characteristics of the "Hua"(flower) itself,but also closely related to the traditional culture and religious culture.
